Lightweight Glass

Lightweight glass is produced by using glass that is thinner than standard thicknesses. By using thinner and lighter weight glass, the vehicle uses less energy. Despite its thinner structure, lightweight glass can be laminated to resist impacts in the event of an accident and ensure driving safety.

In addition to being used for windshields, lightweight glass is also used for sidelites, heated backlites and in encapsulated glass.

Lightweight glass has the ability to save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions because it is produced with reduced weight and thinner glass. The use of thinner outer and inner panes for windshields reduces the overall weight of the glass in the vehicle.
